Brief Job Description/Requirements: The East Texas Food Bank has an outstanding opportunity for a Nutrition Education Specialist to make a difference in our organization and community by educating members and agencies about the importance of nutrition, supporting the growing number of nutrition professionals in our network, and identifying current and potential resources of nutritious food available to members.  This position makes an impact through community support, education, and mission awareness throughout East Texas. 

Summary of Qualifications:

•         Bachelor’s degree in health or a relevant field, Master’s degree preferred

•         Certification as a Registered Dietician, preferred

•         2 years experience in a nonprofit organization or classroom environment preferred, experience with curriculum development a plus

•         Technologically proficient.  Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn new software systems

•         Self-starter, strong organizational skills, highly motivated, dynamic, and creative professional with entrepreneurial spirit

•         Strong interpersonal and time management skills

•         Ability to effectively meet deadlines

•         Effective written and verbal communication skills, bilingual English and Spanish preferred

•         Knowledge of the east Texas area and its diverse communities, including hunger and poverty issues

•         Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel locally 25-30%.
