Have you ever had a patient tell you that they are a food addict? Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’m a dietitian, why do I eat like this?” Over the years, dietitians have slowly evolved from the “Food Police” to “Food Therapists.” As dietitians, we know that eating can be more about behavior than knowledge of healthy foods. Just like a person can become addicted to drugs or alcohol, our neurological and physiological components can react to food in the same way, like an addict.
